How long have you been in Port Douglas?

We arrived in May 2009 so nearly 6 years.

We heard through the grape vine that you won best Wedding Planner in Port Douglas… how long have you been planning weddings?

Thanks, that was a very exciting award to win!  I have been planning weddings for the last 4 years and love it 🙂

How long has Port Douglas Catering been in business?

Port Douglas Catering & Events was started 22 years ago and has gone from strength to strength to become the highly reputable business it is today.

Where is Port Douglas Catering?

Our office is located on Macrossan Street (above Little Larder Cafe) and our kitchen is on Grant Street.

Who works there?

Our two owner/directors Tommy Young (also our Head Chef) and Dean Bland who looks after all Event Logistics, myself – our Events & Marketing Manager, Kristie Jenkin our wedding co-ordinator, Kent Fordham our accounts whiz plus our amazing team of kitchen staff, floor staff and setup crew.

What other services does PDC offer? 

We offer a complete “one stop shop” where we can co-ordinate your wedding as a full reception setup not just your catering requirements.  We have our own setup crew who will install all your lighting and draping requirements, dance floor, bar setup and all furniture hire.

Where is your favourite wedding reception location in Port Douglas?

Hands down I would have to say that I am a huge fan of the Sugar Wharf and this would be our most popular spot – we already have 27 confirmed weddings there for 2015!

What’s the best tip you could give a bride deciding on catering?

Make sure you are comparing apples with apples when you are getting quotes.  Each caterer will have differences in what is included in their costs – you may find yourself with additional costs that you weren’t expecting.  Are the floor staff costed in, are tables and chairs included, are travel costs additional?  Once these are included the cheapest cost may not be as competitive as you thought.

Top 3 favourite canapés?

Coconut crumbed prawns w/ ginger dipping sauce

Ribbon sandwiches

Seared Japanese scallops w/ a caulifower puree & crispy pork rind

These 3 are right up there at the top of my fav’s list

What’s your favourite knock off drink?

Definitely a nice cold bubbly

If I could be anywhere in the world I would be….?

I love being able to call this little patch of paradise home, but i definitely have the Amalfi Coast in Italy on my to travel to list.
